ETF Has your portfolio out-performed the index?

    Hi there,

    Have those here with portfolios of shares and/or managed funds (outside super or in super), done any comparisons with the relevant index (not sure which one's though) to see if they have out-performed the index over longer periods, eg. 5-10 years??

    Some of the reading material from index fund proponents suggest that even a 2% out-performance of the index over the long-term is very, very difficult to achieve - and this is excluding fees, and I think taxation considerations too.
