    Hi all,

There is a couple of questions id like to ask those involved in the starting of businesses and who have maybe dealt with something similar before.

To keep a long story short - my girlfriend and I would like to start a business together, the only issue is - She is not an Australian resident - yet. She is here on a visa from Canada but wishes to stay permanently. We will have a defacto visa in Feb.

She is a make-up artist and we'd like to start our own freelancing business for her to work with, but im not sure how to go about it - legally.

Can we start a partnership business, or company with her not being a resident?

Should I start a business in my name, then once shes a resident, combine her into the title, etc..

It's a long shot, but any info or departments i should contact would be appreciated. Thanks

I would have thought the Dept. of Immigration would be a good place to start? I would think it is a visa issue - it depends on what her current visa allows her to do ?

ie. a tourist visa probably would not allow her to work - or if it did, there would be strict limits as to how much.

I'm not sure of the implications of owning or running a business.
