if so , in ques 3 - i have worked with 8.5% return on annual basis. and also put an assumption that this rate is applied on opening balance.

Hi Sweetp

Thanks for expanding on your answer, I'm re-reading through the whole of the course notes again before revisiting the assignment, but I'll take you additional comments on board.

Cheers

I understand your comments and I have tossed lot of ideas to provide this answer. More I thought, more I make my answer complicated.

I have made a note in the answer that you need to take into consideration their living expenses after their retirement as they will be drawing down theit capital.
Also, I assumed that for next three years Karen's salary will be used for their living expenses.

I would have made cpompunded calculations but that became more complex. So I just stopped making it too complicated and calculated it as a new layman student.

Don't think too much and make it too difficult. I guess they dont expect you to provide everything as long as they know you are on right track.

hope my justifications helped u...

I calculated the capital value needed by discounting the income stream required over the retirement period to today's present value as you would when buying an annuity (see module 2 of IP1 study notes page 2:11) and simply deducting the current investment assets. My calculations resulted in a similar sum to most others so I assume that my logic has produced the correct result.

Srp q6

Hi guys, have completed my first submission for SRP and what a stinker it was. Need to resubmit q6, q1-5 OK. Kaplan have send some full on feedback but it's a bit above me at the moment. I have completed the other 3 modules and this is the last one. So If anyone has completed q6 of the SRP module and wants to swap assignments for any of the other 3 please let us know.

fmcallisto@gmail.com

Thanks and happy new year.

Hi Hector

I know i am a bit late to offer help for Superannuation and Retirement Planning assignment. But if you still need any assistance I am more than happy to trade in my marked assignment for you to have a look at.

I am struggling with the Investment Planning assignment (Isabella). I was wondering if you would care for passing on some help to me.

Let me know

Regards
